David Mayper Executive Director PFOA

I recently visited PFOA members in the Maryland vicinity before heading to Washington DC to attend the NCPA annual meeting.  PFOA Board Member Gaye Moseman attended NCPA as well as our Northeast Sales Consultant, Ann Benyo.  I had meetings with several of our business partners. Thanks to our vendor partner, Anda who hosted a dinner during the conference.

This month our St. Louis office has moved to a new location.  Nancy Coibion will now be working at 10944 Gravois Industrial Court, Suite B, St. Louis, MO 63128. Our phone and fax numbers remain unchanged.

Karen Godbold, Administrative Assistant joined the PFOA staff this month. Alex Sage also joined our PFOA team and will be tasked with special projects. Both staffers are located in Florida.

This week I returned to Washington DC to attend a board meeting for CFA (The Coalition of Franchisee Associations).  I was on Capitol Hill Wednesday attending a meeting sponsored by Representative Ellison.  CFA was participating to better explain his bill correcting most of the abuses that presently exist in the SBA loan system costing taxpayers an estimated $1.5 Billion through government supports and increasing costs of these loans.  This does not include the cost to the individuals who are responsible for these loans and end up losing everything.   It also does not include the vendors that serviced these businesses and have been left with unpaid debts.

According to the Master List maintained by Nancy Coibion, we have 468 active member stores on our roles. This represents a net gain of 36 stores since January 2015. I would like to thank the staff, members and our business partners for helping to feed this growth.

PFOA is offering a new service to help our members identify brand products they regularly purchase that have historically increased in price at the beginning of the year. If you want to get a report for your location done by Ronda Hubbard, please contact the office or Ronda directly.

Please be on the lookout for our newsletters distributed via email. We send a legislative and regulatory newsletter (PFOA Connection), a generics newsletter (Generic Express) a general newsletter and a one pager named "What's News". Please review and let us know what you think.

Open enrollment for Medicare Part D is an important season as patients on part D have the opportunity to choose programs they will participate in.  You, as a pharmacy owner, will be called upon to help them through the process.  There are several tools available to you and proactive use of your time in this area could well help your patients choose programs beneficial to them and your business. If you want additional help in this area for identifying opportunities, please speak with your PFOA staff representative or your peers.

As always, thank you for allowing me to serve as your executive director.

Yours Truly,

David Mayper
