PFOA Taps David Mayper as Executive Director

Industry veteran leads hundreds in group purchasing, member benefits and upholding pharmacy franchise owner’s rights

St. Louis (September 7, 2010) -- The 356+ members of the Pharmacy Franchise Owners Association (PFOA) have appointed a new executive director to lead the member-owned trade association in its mission to preserve, protect and promote the interests of pharmacy franchise owners. Industry veteran David Mayper will assume the role on September 13, bringing more than 25 years of pharmaceutical distribution and association experience.

Over the course of his career, Mayper has successfully grown or introduced important improvements to a wide variety of healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations. In particular, he has consulted with independent pharmacies; represented buying groups; has worked for major U.S. pharmaceutical distributors; and has owned a privately held regional healthcare distributor. Mayper has worked with AmerisourceBergen, H.D. Smith and most recently worked with American Associated Pharmacies Inc. (AAP) where he served on the management team that oversaw the merger of AAP and United Drugs.

“David is a seasoned executive with years of successful experience in guiding pharmacies through the process of negotiating agreements, earning favorable terms, and maintaining their competitiveness,” said Todd Pendergraft, president, PFOA board of directors. “The decline of the franchise system has accelerated the need for more owner-focused, value-added programs to support our members.”
